Loose Leaf Tea vs Tea Bags

Updated: Sep 17, 2020

Today I want to share with you the big differences and what's best for you between Loose Leaf Tea vs Tea Bags.

What's the major difference and when would one be better than the other?

So loose leaf tea it's actually very convenient, it takes the same amount of time to prepare loose leaf tea as it does with tea bags and you get a higher quality tea. Typically with the loose leaf experience you get more richness then you do with tea bags, the whole leaves are full, there's more natural oils found within the leaves themselves, so as you're steeping the leaves the oils get released from the tea actually from the liqueur into the hot water so you get a much more rounded full bodied flavor, while a traditional tea bag it steeps right away since it's more of broken bits of leaves within the actual tea bag.

I'd like you to think about it like buying a bag of chips unsalted and unflavored, on the top you get those uniform beautiful shapes of pop and as you work your way down to the middle they're a bit more broken and what's left at the bottom just the dust or the crumbs. So in a traditional tea factory what you'll find is that they're producing the loose leaf teas and roasting them, firing and cooking and so on and so forth, then the dust flies up in the air as it falls on the ground you sweep it in giant piles and that's typically what's reserved for most tea bags.

In Tea bags leaves are whole and they're deliberately cut to the right size to be in a more convenient delivery system so if you were to open a traditional tea bag one of the things that you'll find is is that dust or that that much finer cut it's convenient it's easy it steeps very quickly while whole leaf teas you want to make sure that it's stored properly.

Tea is subject to three major things like light, heat and humidity so as long as you have it away from those three things you can have and extend the life of the Tea for that much longer.

One of the other benefits of whole leaf teas is you can portion control it if you want to add a little bit more out of or a little bit less, you are in full control over your tea experience based on how much you decide to choose to use, so the benefit of whole leaf loose leaf teas is variety.

In the Only Tea Farm in Europe it's offered over many different single source teas blends that its make in-house.
